Golf Vacation Destinations

Planning a golf vacation can be overwhelming at times. There are well over 1000 golf courses in the Continental U.S. alone. Where do you begin? Well, this section will have a general overview of the different destinations to choose from. I will be adding content to this section continuously to find some of the best courses around. If you have additional courses that you believe I should take a look at, feel free to contact me and I will research those courses for you.

Nevada

This destination is preferred by many people looking for a golf vacation because of all of the high quality courses, casinos and world class entertainment. In addition, it is one of the few golf destinations in the world that can be played comfortably during the winter. While Las Vegas is generally regarded as a “golf mecca”, other cities such as Reno, Tahoe and Laughlin continue to skyrocket in popularity.

Reno and Lake Tahoe are north of Vegas and have beautiful panoramic views of the nearby mountains. Courses in North Nevada were created by such legends as Johnny Miller, Arnold Palmer and Hale Irwin. Laughlin is south of Vegas at the border of California, Nevada and Arizona. This is a rapidly growing city and many golfers prefer this destination during the winter due to the warmer climate.

I don’t know about you, but golfing by day and gambling at night seems about as good as it gets. Whether you want to play a relaxing round or are planning a bachelor party weekend, you have exceptional golf courses to choose from throughout Nevada.

Hawaii

Hawaii is obviously known for its breathtaking scenery, so you better believe that they have some gorgeous resorts. There is no shortage of course with approximately one hundred different experiences. The year-round tropical climate will let you play just about any day throughout the year. Hawaiian islands include Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Lanai and the Big Island. Whether you are playing inland near great mountain views, coastal views of the stunning Pacific Ocean or near the tropical rainforest, you can be assured of unique courses. These courses have very lush fairway and impeccable greens.

Arizona

Considering that Arizona is not the biggest state, it surely doesn’t disappoint with quantity (and quality) of golf courses. It easily has more than 300 golf courses. Like its neighbor Nevada, Arizona is another desired destination for winter golf. Scottsdale and Phoenix are the most popular golf destinations in Arizona. They have numerous resorts that spoil golfers with an abundance of first-class accomodations. This area of Arizona has some of the best resorts in the U.S. In addition to great golf, Scottsdale has top-notch restaurants and superb spa service.

Mesa and Tucson are two fast-growing resort destinations. A benefit to choosing either city is more tranquility and less traffic (on the highways and cart paths) than Scottsdale. Farther to the North is Sedona, which has great desert views along with rolling hills. You can't go wrong visiting any of golf destinations in Arizona. There are truly spectacular views of deserts, mountains and boulders.

Florida

Florida is another destination with world-class golf that can be played year-round. The Sunshine State has a huge supply of golf resorts and other attractions such as theme parks and wonderful beaches. It is truly a great place to visit, especially if you are traveling with family. Courses are spread out all over the state including such popular places as Naples, Key West and Orlando.

Naples is on the Southwest Coast and is the world leader in courses per capita. Destin is at the center of what is known as the Emerald Coast. This area overlooks the Gulf and is starting to become a popular golf destination. Orlando is an extremely popular golf hot-spot for professional golfers and vacationing golfers. This is the home of Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer. Tallahassee is in the northern part of Florida. More professional golfers live in this state than anywhere else. There’s has to be a reason for that, right?
